Springtime in My Spirit

Saturday I was so bored I can't even talk about it.

Sunday was a bit better.
Daddy let me go outside and enjoy the nice weather.

I caught sight of a bird and decided to stalk it.

I didn't get very far when Daddy called me back.

So I returned to the patio and contemplated
a different plan of attack.

Of course that resulted in me stalking the mouse.

Evening brought company;
Auntie, Uncle, and Nice Boy's Mom and Sister.

I was left to entertain myself.
Fortunately, Mom put my tunnel in the middle of
the living room.

I had a blast.

Later I sat in Mom's lap and played with the camera strap.

Then I went back to playing in my tunnel.

After tiring myself out, I curled up next to Daddy on the couch...

...and dreamt of the next day of sunshine.

Beautiful Day to Feel Ignored

Yesterday was beautiful.
We had record breaking high temperatures,
so I got to spend time outside.
I decided to go looking for that mouse.

I was as stealthy as possible.

However, I failed to catch it.
I blame human interference.

Since my favorite sidewalk rolling spot has been
hosed down, rained on, and power washed,
I had a good roll on my own patio.

I was positively delightful.

That's about where the pleasantness of my day ended.
After my outdoor time, I was ignored.
I even went into my Box of Boredom for a good sit.

When Mom went to take a picture of me sitting there,
I thought, 'Oh! She's paying attention to me!' so I came out.
All she ended up with was this blurry photo:

She got no photo and I remained ignored.

The night wore on and attention to the cat.

I climbed onto the penthouse on top of my box hotel.
I looked as pathetic as possible.
Still, the humans failed to give me any proper attention.

So I sunk further.
I retreated to the dining room chair.

They didn't even seem to notice for the longest!

Then, just when I thought all was lost,
Mom did something unexpected.
She pulled my chair out from under the table and put
my harness on me.

Then she set me outside on the tether!

I had a nice time out there.
The only problem was that Mom was sitting a few
feet away through the open door of the dining room.
I wanted her outside...with me.

I didn't stay out for very long.
At least I was reassured of one thing...

Mom still loves me.

Springtime Stress

Wednesday I awoke to the rare monster
known as the power washer.
At first, I hid under the bed, but it seemed to be
attacking the very wall I was hiding against.
As it moved further away, I came out from under
the bed and began staring at the door,
hoping Mom would take the hint.

She didn' least not as soon as I would've liked.

The rest of the day would've pretty routine for a Wednesday.
A visit to the Nice Ladies' office, a visit from Tornado Girl...
Mom leaving me.
Except that Mom left me twice.

Well, at least Mom understood my need to go on a
nighttime recon.

After all, one must reevaluate one's perimeter when
there's been monster activity.

So, after checking things out, I opted for some
tethered patio time.

Thursday was alright, I guess.
It too, was a bit first.
As I sat in the window sunning myself to start my day,
I saw the Nice Ladies walk by.
When they passed by again, I gave them a head nod of acknowledgment.
You know, the ol' chin up "yo, what's up?" sort of greeting.

It was an absolutely beautiful spring day.
I wanted so badly to enjoy some time out on the patio.
Mom even encouraged me to do so.
There was just one problem...

...a constant flow of activity from strange humans.
They just kept going back and forth in front of my patio!
It made my patio time less than enjoyable.
In fact, it wasn't until they had all gone that I actually
went outside for any amount of time.

Unfortunately, by then Mom was leaving me again!

I must admit to being a little stressed out lately.
So, to try to cope, I've been using Mimzy.

First of all, understand that when I go to bed at night,
(early morning...whatever), Mom always takes Mimzy and
makes sure she's in the room with me.
Wednesday night Mom had put Mimzy on the desk next
to my food bowl.
She knows me so well.
So, when she got up briefly in the morning,
I took Mimzy all the way down the hall and into the living room.
I set her next to my scratching post by the door to the patio.

Then, when she left me Thursday night,
I played with Mimzy and left her by the curtain in the hallway.

When Daddy left to go get Mom and bring her home,
I put Mimzy back in my food dish where she belongs.

She is my comfort toy after all.

Well, since Mom was finally home, I expected
a good nighttime recon.

She said she wasn't in the mood.

Not in the mood?!
I don't even understand how that's possible!

All I know is, Friday I'd  better get some good
patio time, and nighttime recon AND Mom had better
stay home where she belongs!

Window to Window

Yesterday I was reluctant to leave
the warmth of the south window.

I did, however, enjoy my daily visit to the Nice Ladies.

The rest of the day was uneventful.
The mouse failed to show itself.

I spent much of my time comepletely bored.
That is, until I caught sight of that cat in my
territory again.
Daddy saw it too.
A grey tabby.
I paced and meowed, but Mom and Daddy refused
to let me outside to 'introduce' myself.

Next time, intruder.
Next time.

Spring Chill

Yesterday I was happy to visit the Nice Ladies
in their office.
I also enjoyed seeing my portrait on display.

I've come to accept that I own the place.

Lately Mom leaves me in there while she steps out
to get the mail.
As she came back in from getting the mail yesterday,
I ran and hid when she opened the door to come back in.

I was embarrassed when I realized it was just Mom,
so I tried to cover it up by going back under the chair and
pretending I had just meant to go there anyway.

When it came time to to go out on the patio,
I waited to see if the mouse would make a mistake
and show himself.
He didn't.

It was cold and windy, so I didn't stay out as long
as I would've liked.
It's no wonder that it began to rain later.

I tried my best to enjoy a little bit of the night,
but ultimately I had to call it quits.

After a visit from Facetious Human,
I curled up with Mom on the couch.

What other way is there to spend a cold wet spring night?

Unsatisfying Stuff

The weekend was slow and, in my opinion,

Saturday I spent all day in bed.
Now, you may think that's normal for a cat,
but usually when Mom gets up, I get up.
Sure, I may just settle down in a new location or something,
but I still get up when Mom does.
So, when I say, 'Saturday I spent all day in bed',
I mean I didn't get up when Mom did.
In fact, by the time evening rolled around,
Daddy actually came, picked me up, carried me
into the living room, and set me down on Mom's lap.
Which is where I stayed as long as I could.

After it had been good and dark outside for quite
some time, I got up and contemplated doing something.

I chose to ask for a nighttime recon.

What I got was something different.

Sure, I got to go for a VERY brief recon.
Then Mom and Daddy took me for a nighttime car ride.
I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Mom, however, didn't bring the camera.
Let's just say I stuck my nose out the window
and enjoyed the night air.
Enjoyment does not equal satisfaction.
Let's be clear about that.

Now I need to mention a couple of other things.
One is something that's been going on for awhile,
but I've failed to mention it in this here blog.

The problem of ants.
That's right, ANTS.
One day they invaded my food bowl!
Mom's been having a little difficulty locating
their point of entry, so she put my food bowl
up on her desk.

In case you were wondering,
no, it has not stopped me from putting Mimzy in my food bowl.
I'm quite capable of jumping up onto the desk with Mimz in my mouth.

This brings me to my other recent activity.
I tried my paw at art....literally.
You see, Facetious Human has a blog of her own
called The Eyes of March.
Every March she posts a series of works done by
various people.  It's really quite interesting.
So when she invited me to be the first non-human
artist featured on her blog, well, I jumped at the chance.
So please, check out my artwork here.
(But don't forget to finish reading mine!)

Oh, and I guess you could peruse the other art there too.
After all, I think Facetious Human is pretty okay as humans go...
 so she's earned it.

Sunday was still unsatisfying.
Now, I know it seems like I've already done plenty
this weekend, but doing stuff and being satisfied are
two different things.
After all, I am an admitted discontented cat.

I tried to stay up in my Ultimate Box of Rebellion.

I say, 'I tried', because Mom eventually enticed
me with an open door.
I decided to attempt jumping down from a
new location.
After a lot of hesitation, (and Mom finally
giving up with the camera), I jumped.

I enjoyed what little time I had outside.
It seems the spring is growing a bit chilly again.

So I went indoors willingly enough.
Then everyone came over.
Well, not the Monday people, (they don't generally show up on Sundays).
I'm talking about Auntie and Uncle as well as
Nice Boy's family.
Except, Nice Boy didn't come with that was different.

After all the extra humans left, I commenced pleading.
Of COURSE I wanted a nighttime recon!

Did I get it?
Well, I did say my weekend was unsatisfying...
so no.  No I did not get it.
